Brodie McNaughton from Townsville, Queensland
September 2015Congratulations to Brodie McNaughton from Townsville, Queensland for winning our Daydream Island Resort and Spa Honeymoon Prize drawn in September 2015. Brodie and Kaitlin were married on 25 July 2015 and plan on using the prize as their second honeymoon.
About UsKaitlin and I met through a mutual friend and have been together for nearly five years. When we started to get know each other, I was still living in NSW for work, and Kaitlin was living in Townsville with her family, so from the very beginning our relationship was built on long phone calls.
For nearly two years we did the long distance relationship thing, which I believe is what gave us the firm foundation to which we built our love and trust on. After two years of long distance dating and countless phone calls, I finally moved back to Townsville where we built a loving home, and really got to know what living together was really about.
In 2013, I decided that a life without Kaitlin would be undoubtedly empty, so I put plans into motion and asked her to be my wife. I made my proposal to Kaitlin on The Strand in Townsville and have not looked back since.
Kaitlin and I were treated like royalty the entire day and we cherished how blessed we are to have so many people in our live to have made our day so perfect.
We came across Peppers while comparing different venues on your website.
Maureen Smith from Mackay, Queensland
March 2014Congratulations to Maureen Smith from Mackay, Queensland for winning our Kingfisher Bay Resort, Frazer Island Honeymoon Prize drawn in March 2014. Maureen and Tony Williams were married on 19 April 2014 and plan on using the prize as their honeymoon.
Our WeddingOur wedding ceremony was at Breezes Lifestyle Village on the patio by the pool, then inside to the dining and bar area for the reception.
Tony's son Luke (bestman) and daughter Lauren (groomslady) stood by their dad. My two best friends, Denise and Lyn were my bridesmaids. Our 3 1/2 year old grandson, Xavier Lee was our ring bearer, and our 1 year old granddaughter, Faith Willow was our flower girl.
About UsI knew Tony as my son's best mate's father-in-law. As I lost my first husband I was not doing anything or going anywhere. I used to own a Harley and one day Tony took me for a ride on the back of his Harley. After four rides he asked me out on a date. On Australia Day, 2 1/2 years later Tony proposed, then 18 months later - our wedding.
We have just bought our first house together on the Sunshine Coast, and we are looking forward to our married life together there.
Tony is my best friend and my rock. I love him to the moon and back. That is our story so far... Maureen.
Joeleen Walls from Mundingburra, Townsville
December 2012Congratulations to Joeleen Walls from Mundingburra, Townsville for winning our Kingfisher Bay Resort, Frazer Island Honeymoon drawn in December 2012. Joeleen was so excited to win the prize. Joeleen and her fiancé Luke Poggioli were married in September 2013 and used the Kingfisher Bay Resort prize as their honeymoon.
Our HoneymoonI can’t even begin to describe the beauty of Fraser Island. We could not have asked for a better week away. The weather was fabulous and the Kingfisher Bay Resort was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the company of each other. Waking up to a view of the ocean each morning was pure bliss!
Our days on Fraser Island were spent exploring the walking tracks, lounging by the pool, and evening walks along the beach to watch the sunset. The most memorable highlight of our trip was the Beauty Spots Tour – A guided 4 Wheel drive tour that allowed us to discover Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, the Maheno shipwreck and Seventy-Five Mile Beach’s famous highway which is also used as an airstrip!
On our final day we enjoyed a Segway tour along the western beach followed by a pre-dinner cheese platter, bottle of bubbles and a stunning sunset viewed from the Jetty Hut.
Thank you to The Wedding Scene and Kingfisher Bay Resort for the entire experience, Joeleen.
Jana Williams from Deebing Heights, Ipswich
April 2011Congratulations to Jana Williams from Deebing Heights, Ipswich for winning our Daydream Island Honeymoon prize drawn in April 2011. Jana and Christopher McMullen were married on 13 November 2010 and they plan to use the Daydream Island honeymoon prize as their first anniversary honeymoon.
About UsChristopher and I have known each other now for going on 9 years and will have been together 5 years on 11 December. We originally met in the work place at the Prince Alfred Hotel, working as colleagues but did not have much of a friendship until we discovered that we both had the love of music. We started to find interest in each other after going to a John Butler concert at the River Stage in Brisbane December 2005. We became extremely fond of each other in a very short period of time, that much in fact the Chris moved in with me about 6 months after we started seeing each other. Our friends couldn’t believe it and said it was a bad idea.
A few years and two houses later, he proposed to me while watching John Butler at the Byron Bay Blues and Rootes festival and listening to OUR song; Peaches & Cream. He hugged me from behind and put an opened ring box with a stunning 1ct 3 clawed diamond ring in front of my eyes, and all of a sudden it felt as everything had just stopped. Of course I said yes.
Our Wedding Day13 November 2010 was the date Christopher and I were married at the beautiful venue known as Woodlands of Marburg. It was a gorgeous sun shining summer day. I wore a Maggie Sotorro Victoriana style wedding gown. My bridesmaids wore classic black style dresses that were tailor made while the groom and groomsmen wore traditional style quilts, as Christopher has a Scottish heritage. It was such a beautiful day with very little complications.
Our ceremony was situated in the beautiful grass grounds called the grotto at Woodlands. It had a stunning back drop of green trees and a huge Jacaranda tree above, which left a lovely carpet of purple on the grass. This made for great photos. We then moved on to vineyard for the remainder of our photos, which turned out so fantastic.
It took a year and a half of planning and stress but it was well worth it. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Kind regards, Jana.
February 2010Congratulations to Jo Corlett from Bundaberg for winning our Daydream Island Honeymoon prize. Jo and Terry were married on Valentines Day 2010 (so that Terry wouldn't forget their anniversary!) and they used the Daydream Island honeymoon prize as their belated honeymoon in August 2010. Jo was 'over the moon' and so shocked to win the Daydream Island prize as they didn't have a honeymoon due to the expense of paying for their wedding.
January 2009Congratulations to Nicole O'Flynn from Elanora on the Gold Coast for winning our Hayman Island Honeymoon prize drawn in January 2009. Nicole and Paul were really excited and surprised to win the prize. They were married in November 2009 and used the Hayman Island prize for their honeymoon as they hadn't booked a honeymoon due to the expense. They have three children under 6 and really enjoyed their honeymoon getaway.
November 2007Congratulations to Renate Kvingedal of Townsville, Queensland. Renate and Chris were married in August 2008 and were extremely happy to win our Hayman Island honeymoon competition.
We had decided not to have a honeymoon because of the cost, so this is the best gift I could have got.
We would like to extend our thanks to Hayman Island Resort for our amazing honeymoon. The 4 nights on Hayman were a dream. The only thing I could fault was the weather, and that was only because it wasn't perfect -- unlike everything else about Hayman! It was an amazing week, from the moment we were met at the airport and ushered aboard the launch for the cruise to Hayman, which in itself was an experience, sipping on sparkling wine and watching the whales and dolphins frolic amongst the amazing backdrop of the Whitsunday islands.
The days on Hayman were fantastic. And the nights -- wonderful dinners at their variety of restaurants and cocktails in the lounge bar before retreating to the comfort of the luxury suite. We took up the offer of a romantic sunset beach drop off, where we were left on a secluded beach with a bottle of sparkling wine and a picnic basket to watch the sunset.
The staff were courteous, attentive and friendly, and really helped make the experience fantastic! Hayman is an amazing place, fantastic facilities, and we couldn't have imagined a more wonderful honeymoon!
I also found The Wedding Scene very helpful when I started looking around for celebrants, venues, florist.... well everything... It's a great site because it "has it all", and like I said this prize is amazing and I am so happy to be able to have a proper honeymoon and be spoilt on a luxury Island Resort.
So... I cannot say this enough -- Thank you to The Wedding Scene and Hayman Island for an amazing unforgettable, perfect Honeymoon! It was the best way possible to start married life, Renate.
November 2006Congratulations to Erin McCarthy of Mermaid Beach, Queensland for winning our South Molle Island honeymoon competition. Erin and Brad were married on 14 April 2007, and were very excited to receive the South Molle Island honeymoon.
Our Wedding Day
We had such a great day, it was magical. It went to fast though!! The reception was the greatest party ever! We had it at the same place we got married -- at The Colonial Golf Course Robina. It was such a beautiful and romantic backdrop. We served a buffet dinner which was so yummy. I didn’t each much, too excited! Brad and I had so much fun, but my feet were killing me! We had our first dance to Ben Folds Five’s song “The Luckiest” - that was probably one of my favourite parts of the whole day because it was the first time all day that it was just Brad and I. Sounds weird considering there were over 90 eyes on us, but we just zoned in on each other which was very emotional.
Our honeymoon on South Molle Island was the best! It was so relaxing. On one of the days we went out to the Barrier Reef and did some snorkelling, and Brad tried some scuba diving for the first time. We went on bushwalks around the Island, where we saw the most amazing views. We participated in many of the Islands activities, such as the bird feeding, beach cricket, kayaking, and we even attended a class on “how to open a coconut!” When we weren’t doing these things we were very busy drinking cocktails and relaxing on the beach! The staff on the Island were so accommodating, and by the end of our week on the Island we knew them all. Such nice, friendly people.
I found The Wedding Scene website through Google. It was the best website I found while planning my wedding because I could tell it what I was looking for and it would get back to me. It was really easy to use. I got heaps of emails back from all my searches.
